First point. Bill O'Reilly is controversial, and he knows it.
He himself stated in his book that he is as polarizing as
Howard Cossell and President George W. Bush. Thus, I was not
surprised to see an average rating of three stars for this
book. My hunch, though, is that is because there are a large
number of five star reviews and a large number of one star
reviews. (And I have a hunch many will find my review "not
helpful" solely because I gave this book more than one star.)
Second point. If you are considering this bickett tobin and co
table lamps, briefly skim all the reviews. Considering how
controversial O'Reilly is, consider every five star and every
one star review as a sign that he achieved his goal as an
author. In fact, the more hateful the review is, consider that
as more of a reason to buy the book. Note carefully every
review that has 2-4 stars. If you want a signal that this book
is not worth your money, you will find it by the number of
three star reviews. (NOTE: I have purposely not looked at any
of the reviews, so I don't know how many reviews there are, or
if there are any 3 star reviews.) Why do I say this? If a book
by O'Reilly is neither fires up his fans nor angers his foes,
he's failed.
By the way, just as this review may get a lot of not helpful
votes merely because it does not help give ammunition for the
bickett tobin haters, I also challenge those who read the
reviews to see how many of the 1 star reviewers actually read
the book. My hunch is some of these one star reviews are
reviews of O'Reilly, not his book. |
